11.04.09

I'm blogging this from a boat in the middle of The Gulf of Thailand. It's
Been raining since last night. The wind and rain was extremely strong last night. I was woken up by the sounds of palm frawns and other debris flying around and banging on my hut. Needless to say we made it safely through the night. We left our keys in our room since we could not find the property caretaker. I do hope she finds my note and the keys.

That brings me here on the Songserm boat that will bring us to Surathani, a major port province in southern Thailand. From there we take a bus to Krabi and another boat to Ko Phi Phi. We'll stay there one night and go on an excursion to Maya Bay. There we will camp out one night. Then the next morning it's off to Phuket. We'll be in a hotel there for two nights and then it's back to Bangkok.

Just arrived at the port of surathani. Now were getting on a bus to Krabi on the other side of this country.

Onboard movie: Transformers. I think I've seen this movie played three times on this trip.

Low tide on Koh Phi Phi.

I really like this island. It's low key, it has all the amenities you ever needed and you can basically walk around the island in less than an hour.

11.03.09

The only hangover to report on was our bartender. She was still a little intoxicated from the night before.

Today was a free day to relax and do nothing.

Rainy night, strong wind gusts, thunder and lightning rocked my hut around midnight.

Woke up early this morning to the gentle waves softly rolling on the beach.

Good morning Koh Phangan.

I was caught in a thunderstorm this morning on my run.

Good morning Geko!

We rented scooters today and took the elephant treck trough the rainforest. After the treck we cut through the island and made our way to the other side. From there we took in the sights from Malibu beach.
Almost arrested for not wearing helmets.

This morning Michael and I had to wake up at 4am, check out by 4:30 and be at the bus stop by 5:30. Luckily everything went smoothly and we were on our bus at 6am. Early morning wake up call. I can't say that that particular his was at all luxurous but it serves it's purpose as a way to see the Thailand countryside. Again, Thailand reminds me so much of the Philippines.
Side note: On board movie: The Spirit, Yes Man and Bride Wars. So after 4 days in Bangkok and a 6 hour bus ride we turn the bend on the road and the gulf of Thailand opens up to our view. The sight is amazing! Blue and green water with islands cropping out taunting you to come and explore.

1 port Koh Tao. 1.5 hours from shore and then another 1.5 hours to our destination.

Off in the distance, Koh Phangan, our home for the next 4 days and home to the full moon party.

Koh Phangan Tropicana Resort.
Not only does the town remind me of my experience in the P.I. but our stilted huts with no air and slated glass windows takes me back to the seaside home my grandma grew up in. It's seems like I've already taken a vacation like this before though being right at the water's edge and surrrounded by a variety of clubs and europeans wasn't anything like the Philippine province of Butol.

The biggest surprise by far was a Mexican restaurant a block away from the resort. I have to say that this place has the best Mexican food in not only Thailand but the world. Nothing in Los Angeles, San Diego or even Baja can come close. The chips and salsa were fresh, the guacamole was chunky and flavorful and my chimichanga was crispy and delicious. Ando Logo goes in the record books ass the best Mexican restaurant Ever!

We had to leave the Heritage today in favor of a hotel closer to the Kao San area. Kao San Road is where we will end up catching an extremely early bus/catamaran ride down to Koh Pangan. Before the moving process begun, I had to take a stroll through the soi Salom area by myself just to check out the scene.

Day 1.2 10/29/09

Good morning Bangkok! You're hot, sticky and you smell of polution and runaway sewage.

Working out on the rooftop of the heritage.

I thought i ordered pad thai but i got noodles with chicken, liver and sqwqsh. The Street vendor food was not as yummy as every tour book makes them out to be.

I got to practice my Spanish with a girl from equador and in turned helped her find out her flight was at 8am the next morning and not that night.

Not being able to sleep sucks. Luckily China Air has personal entertainment devices.
I smell day old panda express!

Taipei reminds me of k-town

** We were so impressed with the simple wonders of the word. Wonders such as a Coke can in a Taipei.

Met Linda from Palmdale whose going to chaing mai for her daughter's wedding. She's rented with brook before.

Just Rrived in Thailand at 1:13 in the morning. It was a grueling journey but we're finally here.
